Youth Volunteering and the MV Awards Volunteer Centre Fife supports and encourages the involvement of young people in volunteering activities. The Youth Development Worker promotes volunteering to young people through talks and presentations at schools and colleges, youth groups, youth-focused organisations, back to employment projects and so on. Support and advice is also given to volunteer-involving organisations that are interested in recruiting or increasing the number of young volunteers. If you are interested in the Youth Development Worker coming to speak to your organisation phone 01592 645540 or e-mail youth@volunteeringfife.org The MV Awards is one way that young volunteers (16 – 25) can be rewarded and recognised for their volunteering. The Awards are a UK-wide scheme and are funded by the Scottish Executive in Scotland. Certificates are awarded to young volunteers for 50 and 100 hours of volunteering, and an Award of Excellence signed by the First Minister is for 200 hours. `Volunteering’ can cover a multitude of activities. Young people can volunteer in a formal setting, or they can be volunteering through a school or youth group activity for example. If you are unsure whether it would count as volunteering contact us and we will be able to advise. Individual young people can register on to the award, but we are also interested to hear from volunteering-involving organisations, schools and youth groups who can register as an organisation and sign up their young people. To our country, our communities, our environment and to people who need a hand. And especially to our volunteers. It was created by people who think young Scots have a whole lot to offer and a whole lot to gain if they're given the chance to do something a little different. Project Scotland is a chance for those between the ages of 16 and 25 to change their life and the lives of others. Project Scotland gives young Scots the chance to undertake full time volunteering. They offer a subsistance allowance and provide support while your are doing something new, exciting and very worthwhile. Volunteer placements are usually broken down into a minimum of a 3 month full time commitment of not less than 30 hours per week. You can do up to 12 montsh in just one or a mix of placements. You could be doing anything from undertaking conservation projects, to supporting disadvantaged young people, to getting involved in sports, arts or new media projects.
