Claire Chue Hong was interested in a career working with young people when she first started volunteering at a Summer Playscheme a few years ago.

She thoroughly enjoyed it and moved on to volunteer with Penumbra Youth Project Fife assisting voluntary groups in designing newsletters and other promotional material. Claire says, “To me volunteering has been a great way of getting work experience, it’s very rewarding. The experience I have gained has helped me with career choices and has built my confidence up no end. I would definitely recommend volunteering to other young people looking to gain some work experience and meet new people.”

Volunteering gave Claire the ‘foot in the door’ into the workplace she needed and she had a few paid jobs since including Castle Furniture Project and Glenrothes College. Through volunteering and Volunteer Centre Fife, Claire has also achieved her 200 Millennium Volunteer Award.
