Everyone has something to give and something to gain from volunteering. If you need to be able to carry out particular activities then you should receive training from the organisation. I'd like to help out but I don't have much time. A few hours a month is enough for some organisations while others prefer a regular weekly commitment which can be in the evening, at weekends or during the day. I can't afford to be out of pocket. Will I get expenses? Volunteers should never be out-of-pocket through volunteering. While many organisations re-imburse expenses, some don't so it is a good idea to ask. Will volunteering affect my benefits? This shouldn't be a problem but Volunteer Centre Fife can offer guidance if you have any concerns. I'm at school. Who can advise me about my options? We'll find you options that fit round your study commitments and ensure you get full credit for your learning. I am an ex-offender. Does that mean I can't volunteer? Although there may be some restrictions depending on the nature of the offence, having a record need not stop you volunteering. Have a confidential chat with us to clarify your options. Is volunteering mainly for women? Almost all of the opportunities are open to both men and women. Some organisations are particularly keen to recruit men because many of their clients are men. I am retired. Can I still volunteer? Many organisations could benefit from your range of skills and life experience.
