Volunteers Manager's Network

What is it?

The Volunteers Managers’ Network was set up in 2000 to bring together Managers from voluntary organisations and agencies. It meets on a regular basis and its aims include sharing experiences, highlighting issues relating to the management of volunteers and raising the profile of the sector and its work.

Due to growing interest, the Network was rolled out across Fife in October 2003 with meetings in different areas to minimise time and travel for members.

What is its purpose?

Meetings are facilitated by Volunteer Centre Fife and provide an opportunity to:

  • Network across Fife
  • Raise the profile of your organisation
  • Share good practice
  • Meet like-minded people
  • Increase/share your knowledge and expertise
  • Raise issues in relation to volunteer management

Your Network – Your Meetings

One of the roles of Volunteer Centre Fife is to enhance the capacity of volunteer-engaging organisations. Each year we have ensured that the form and style of meetings responded to organisations’ expressed needs. These have included:

  • holding meetings in local areas
  • offering a topic for each meeting, drawn from feedback from the members and encouraging members to take a lead on topics
  • sending out minutes as a Noticeboard in newsletter form
  • encouraging members to offer their offices as venues for meetings

The Way Forward?

Three years after rolling out the Network Fife-wide, focus groups were held in the 3 local areas and questionnaires sent out to members to review how effective the network had been and how VC Fife could best support it.
